CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed term 6 months, maternity cover and full-time (5 days per week)

We are looking to hire an experienced Web Analyst for a fixed term contract to help support analytics implementation, configuration and analysis across the nature.com team and other divisions of Macmillan Publishers Ltd. The position is a 6-month locum position starting in late May or early June 2013.
For each online business division, you will partner with global product teams to define success metrics, establish report formats and interpret business critical measures. The ideal candidate will have proficiency using different analytics tools to perform macro- and granular-level analysis of traffic patterns across various channels including social and mobile. Experience with designing custom reports to meet business requirements for new product launches and optimize site and/or app features based on data-driven insights is essential. Additional experience with analytics governance across various platforms and knowledge of digital publishing and editorial systems, workflows and processes would be desirable.
This position is available to be filled either in London or New York

Ad hoc analysis of site, app and social channel usage to assess effectiveness of content and site design
Monitor monthly site usage and technology figures for nature.com portfolio and disseminate via updated dashboards
Gather and analyse usage information, validate data integrity and evaluate trends to answer business questions
Support various teams across organisation to answer questions relating to client and partner reporting
Webtrends Analytics administration and custom report configuration and design (Segments/VDM, Optimize pluses)
Define reports and tracking tags for sites and apps, against business requirements, for new products and features
Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Economics or Statistics
Highly numerate with strong analytical and interpretation skills
1-3 years of experience with Webtrends, Google Analytics and other tools essential
Experience with web and mobile app development technology
Understanding of digital marketing across different content types, including SEO and PPC
Advanced knowledge of Excel including VBA essential
Experience with data visualisation and storytelling for dashboards and reports
General knowledge of data warehousing, databases and SQL
Must be a self-starter with strong communication skills and possess attention to detail
