          Hi, Rekha,

Rather than simply asking us for our opinions, why don't you suggest what
you think the answers might be? You will see a better discussion as we
agree and disagree with you and each other.

Otherwise, it sounds almost as if you're asking us to help you with a
          homework assignment or job interview.

The first goal of a web analyst is to contextualize the business question such that folks not familiar with the problem can quickly grasp its essence.

The second is to make sure your communcations are grammatically correct.

The third is to be able to review raw analytics data, locate important trends, exceptions and anomalies, and communicate a synthesis of findings that will help inform key business decisions.

Finally a web analyst needs to understand business, internet technologies, web analytics capabilities, marketing, statistics and must possess advanced communication skills.

The ultimate goal of a web analyst is to make website recommendations based on intelligent data. To me, intelligent data comes from multiple reliable sources, it is actionable and it takes context into account.
I would also add to everything that has been posted on this subject already that a large part of the web analytics function is to highlight opportunities and threats; these could be market related or onsite related.
