      I am currently working for a company looking to replace Google
      Analytics. We have a unique situation when it comes to web analytics
      and I haven't seen a really good solution. I was wondering if anyone
      had a good strategy or vendor that could help me.

      My company provides content to around 300 affiliates by "iFraming" our
      content into our affiliates web sites. We would like to segment our
      web analytics data in order to report back to each of our affiliates
      with the number of pageviews/visits/visitors/etc. each station
      receives. We would also like to segment this data by the different
      content packages we provide.

      Almost every vendor I have spoke to assures me their solution can
      tackle this kind of segmentation using custom filters,content
      hierarchies, etc. The problem is most vendors charge an incremental
      fee for every segment and with over 300 segments this just isn't feasible.

      Finally we would really like an easy way to get this information back
      to our 300 affiliates. Each report would essentially be the same
      structure, just different numbers. Therefore I would love to find a
      way to create just one report and have that report populate itself
      with the information for each of our clients. I would then either
      need to set up logins for each of our clients to access this report,
      or schedule the report to be automatically emailed to each client.

      Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

        If the reporting needs are relatively simple and they sound like they are,
        you could try the Urchin software. Urchin was purchased by Google a few
        years ago and was turned into Google Analytics. The Urchin software is a
        favorite with the ISP market, it ships with 100 profiles and purchasing an
        additional 200 profiles isn't very expensive. The software can be customised
        by both filtering the contents of the reports by any log file field and you
        can create custom templates so that you only show the affiliates exactly
        what they need to know. Each affiliate can have their own login to the
        reports and it can even integrate with your existing authentication system.
        I have written email scripts that automate the delivery of the reports by
        email as well.

        As you are using Google Analytics you can configure the service so that you
        are using both GA and Urchin together. To do this just add the file
        http://www.google-analytics.com/__utm.gif to the root level of your website
        and change the code for GA to

        <script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js"
        type="text/javascript">
        </script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
        _uacct = "UA-XXXXX-1"; //add your own account code
        _userv=2; // this sets GA to record the transaction in your server log files
        urchinTracker();
        </script>

        Make sure that you have your cookies turned on in your log files and you can
        then use Urchin with the same data as you use on GA.

        You can then set up filtered reports for your affiliates and keep GA for
        your own use. The correct filter would be dependent on how your affiliate
        system works, but it could be by either URL parameter or by a cookie value.

        You can see more on Urchin at http://www.panalysis.com/urchin/

        If your reporting needs are more advanced, then I encourage you to look at
        ClickTracks www.clicktracks.com <http://www.clicktracks.com/> . It can
        handle up to 120 segments per report and it has an API that you can use to
        extract the reports and put them into another format. It is a great product,
        but may be more than is needed if you just want to provide some basic
        reports to your affiliates.

        Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss this in more detail.

          That's very similar to what we have to do. We built a data warehouse and
          wrote code that populates Excel templates with the data for each customer.
          Each week, we send an email when new reports are available to download as
          spreadsheets. This was a significant development investment and there's a
          lot of ongoing work to incorporate data from new features, generate new
          metrics and general maintenance.
