- Nov 27 5:07 AMHey, WCIS:
We had a great turnout for the 2012 Turkey Day pick-up game. Help make this an annual event.
Has anyone linked up with the Arbolado noon scrimmage group and any Sunday Soccer league groups for RSVPs?
Let's all give thanks to Danny & Daniel to get the soccer ball rolling again. http://meetu.ps/24V5zx
Hello everyone. I'm taking a chance here and hopefully not stepping on any toes or kicking any shins :)
I opened up a group on Meetup.com for the Sunday Walnut Creek pick-up games so we can all get a better idea of who will be playing every week. I showed up yesterday along with three others and no one else came. I'm new to the area by a few months and have heard of numbers dwindling so I'm hoping to breath some life back into this pick-up using a great site called Meetup.com
If you haven't heard of Meetup.com check it out. The service has a lot to offer. Especially if you have the app on your phone as well as notifications set up correctly (email and push)
The meetup link is http://meetu.ps/24V5zx
I've taken the liberty of adding the Thanksgiving game and next few Sunday pick-ups to it.
There is no cost to join the group and while it says I'm host I am definitely not. I just am by default for making the site. Damn, I'll be lucky if my wife let's me make more than a couple of the games a month so the group is for all of us. I'm happy to add any other pick-up games to the list. Just let me know.
All I ask is that if you plan on going then RSVP and if you suddenly can't then don't forget to change your status.
Hope to see you join the group and please share with others in the area.
Ps. The group is live but not yet searchable on meetup. I looked into it and it takes a few days before it is. Hopefully then we'll get some new members too.

Thanks to everyone who replied to the soccer invitation on Thanksgiving. In order to know how many people are coming to this game and others, please register and rsvp at http://www.meetup.com/Walnut-Creek-Pick-up-Soccer. Your can use your computer and your smart phone to resister and view how many people are coming. One of our players, Danny D, has set up a tracking system on meetup.com so we know how many people are coming to games. As you know, some of the pick up games have fallen off over the last months, and this is a way to get some games going and know beforehand if there are enough people to have a game. With winter coming it would be great to establish a few games per week so we have some options to play. Please register and forward this email to other players so we can get critical mass for some good games! Cheers and see you on the pitch!Daniel J.
