I read the article and thought it interesting, also had some of the concerns
that others had about focus group. I think it would be good if WCCUSD really put
the effort in to some type of systematic program, but you must have leadership
that can relate to the community and ready to work on the issues, at this point
parent/community involvement is not a viable focus.

OUSD is instituting a cabinet level position to improve outcomes for
African-American males. It's an interesting idea, but likely to have little
effect if BUSD, WCCUSD and SFUSD don't join in the effort. Most of our issues
can't be solved in isolation. Jurisdiction is mostly meaningless in the Bay
Area. What happens in Oakland effects us, and vice versa.
Is there an ABAG http://www.abag.ca.gov/ for school districts? Shouldn't there
