      Save the music concert scheduled: Stewart K-8 elementary and several other
      Pinole schools are hosting a benefit concert from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at
      Ellerhorst Elementary School, 3501 Pinole Valley Road. The concert is one of
      many fundraising projects scheduled to save the music programs in West
      Contra Costa schools. Admission is $10 per person, 5 and under are free. For

      Contra Costa

      County to offer teen career camps: The Contra Costa County Office of
      Education and the Contra Costa Economic Partnership are now accepting
      applications for three career camps available to Contra Costa juniors and
      seniors this summer. A free engineering camp is scheduled for June 15 to 19
      at Diablo Valley College, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill.

      The curriculum will focus on energy generation and control, design and
      architecture, manufacturing and construction.

      A biotechnology camp is scheduled for July 6 to 10 at Cal State East Bay
      Concord campus, 4700 Ygnacio Valley Road. The cost is $50, and the camp will
      explore science, including genomics, bioinformatics, forensics, cloning and

      An environmental sciences camp will be held July 20 to 24, also at the
      Concord campus.

      Cost is $50, and the camp will concentrate in engineering, watersheds, water
      rights and drinking water, wastewater
      treatment, air quality and climate change, power and alternative energy. All
      classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

      Students will receive continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. For

      Contra Costa

      Scholarships available: Save the Redwoods League, a nonprofit that works to
      protect ancient redwood forests, seeks grant applications from schools, park
      cooperating associations and nonprofits to provide redwood education.

      The league will award up to $100,000 in grants to fund education programs
      and create opportunities for people to visit and learn about redwood

      The league requests proposals that are created by students. To learn more or

      reclassification ceremony scheduled: The West Contra Costa school district's
      10th annual Reclassification Ceremony, in which English-language learners
      are honored for mastering English, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
      Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza. More than 800 district
      students have mastered both academic and conversational English based on
      state and district criteria for fluent English proficiency. For more

      Tour and presentation of Richmond high gardens: The pilot Richmond High
      School Urban Agriculture and Food Systems class is holding a presentation
      about the class and a tour at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the school, 1250 23rd
