      Peter,
There is a budget meeting tonight at PVHS cafeteria at 6:30PM to go over the state budget news.  It is downright devastating and I encourage all to come.

For the latest published report on WCCUSD see:

Being neither a parent or grandparent of a

student, nor a school neighbor, we're not directly involved.

My main interest is to work towards improved

decision-making in our town and region.

It is pretty bad. Although not worse, maybe

often better, than in surrounding communities.

With 1,000 peopole so concerned enough

to bother to attend the meeting,

it should not be difficult to block the

latest decision, via legal action. But there's a time

limit. Not letting several dozen people speak

out, is a clear violation of rules.

The meeting and vote needs to be redone, correctly.

It is a constant struggle to have local

Boards and Councils make sensible decisions,

in an environment where it's hard to be elected

without being subservient to special interests.

      Unless one's independently wealthy and

      thick-skinned.

In the larger picture the many more and

powerful "special interests" block each other.

At least in the long run. (With other

attendant problems, but not as lethal

      as any long-term homogeneous system.)
