WVN ALERT: Heat advisory/Paving postponed
- EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY
The Wayland Health Department has issued an extreme heat advisory effective through Saturday. Cooling areas are available in town.
The advisory emphasizes:
-- People 65 years and older, infants, children and people with chronic medical conditions are more prone to heat stress.
-- Air-conditioning is the best protector against heat-related illness and death. During conditions of extreme heat, spend time in locations with air-conditioning such as shopping malls, public libraries, or public health sponsored heat-relief shelters in your area.
-- Listen to local news and weather channels or contact the public health department (508-358-3617) for health and safety updates.
-- Drink cool, nonalcoholic beverages and increase your fluid intake, regardless of your activity level.
-- Avoid sun during hottest hours. If you must be outside, seek shade or limit time in the sun.
-- Cooling areas are available in the Town Building and the Public Safety Building through Saturday, and beyond if necessary.
-- If you need assistance, call the Public Safety line: 508-358-4721.
