WVN ALERT: Friday-Sunday collection for Hurricane Sandy victims

A Wayland group is collecting a wide variety of items already identified as needed at Breezy Point, NY, where residents -- many of them police officers, fire fighters and EMTs -- lost their homes to flooding and fire last week. News about Breezy Point:
The following notice is from Friends of Breezy Point, coordinated by Cynthia Hill (508-358-5695).
Next Tuesday, a 40-foot truck, courtesy of the new Wayland Stop & Shop, will leave from the Town Center with light construction equipment, winter clothing, non-perishable food, and pallets of drinking water.
We need the following delivered to the truck Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this week. The truck will be parked at the Stop & Shop in Town Center, reachable by the Route 20 entrance from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Hoses - various lengths
Cordless Screw guns
Electric Cords - 50 & 100' lengths
Shovels (not snow shovels)
Construction trash bags
Rubber boots that fit over shoes
Work gloves with wool liners and without: LARGE, X-LARGE
Hooded Sweatshirts - L, XL and XXL
Multi-packages of toilet paper
Non-perishable food that needs no preparation, e.g. energy bars, canned fruits, prepackaged crackers and cheese, prepackaged tuna in sealed pouch, Spam, Vienna sausages. But NO Ramen (which needs water and heat). NO NUTS or crushables like chips.
Winter clothing for all ages, male and female: warm socks, jackets, parkas, boots, sweaters, slacks, packaged undies, scarves, gloves, mittens, etc. (Just think of what you'd need if suddenly you had nothing.)
