WVN ALERT: CVS hearing/Primary election
- View SourceDear Wayland Voter,
If you took the summer off from local public affairs, this week is a chance to become active again.
Tuesday offers an opportunity to consider plans for a CVS at the Finnerty's restaurant site in Cochituate and express your opinion at a public hearing. The developer seems to have ignored practical and aesthetic suggestions from Wayland's Design Review Board. Also on the Planning Board agenda: a conservation cluster development proposed on Plain Road.
Thursday is the state primary election date, the first in many years that's not on a Tuesday. One unusual aspect is a connection between Wayand's upcoming special Town Meeting and the Democratic primary for state representative representing most of Wayland, Sudbury and parts of Marlborough and Framingham. Steven Hakar, a Framingham accountant, seeks to unseat Tom Conroy, a three-term veteran and Wayland resident. Hakar gathered enough signatures in Wayland and other towns to introduce two resolutions at special town meetings.
Wayland officials hadn't planned for a special meeting. Some citizens said Hakar wasted taxpayers' money for a meeting that would ask for but not require action. But now that the meeting has been called, the Planning Board has a zoning bylaw article and there could be a few articles originated by Wayland petitioners.
Framingham and Sudbury will consider Hakar's initiatives before Wayland's Oct. 3 special Town Meeting.
