WVN ALERT: Bridge closing, school budget, town finances
- PELHAM ISLAND BRIDGE REPLACEMENT UPDATE
On Monday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. state and local officials will hold an informational meeting in the Large hearing Room of the Town Building concerning the impending replacement of the one-lane bridge on Pelham Island Road. It's a good chance for those most affected to ask questions.
Construction is scheduled to begin in February. The road will be closed at the Sudbury River until the project is finished. The contractor has scheduled reopening before next winter sets in.
IMPORTANT BUDGET, TOWN MEETING MATTERS
Monday Jan. 9 will be a busy evening for discussing big sums of money. Three separate meetings begin at 7 p.m. at the Town Building.
-- The School Committee will present its proposed Fiscal 2013 budget to the public.
-- The Finance Committee will discuss FY13 capital and operating budgets as well as a proposed Town Meeting article to create a Water Enterprise Fund.
-- The selectmen will hold a workshop for petitioners interested in submitting spring Town Meeting articles and then will discuss the status of other warrant articles. Deadline for submitting articles to the Selectmen's Office is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 17.
