WVN Alert: Money matters

-- Tuesday Oct. 14, 7:15 p.m. The Board of Selectmen will extend public comment to about an hour for a discussion of Question 1 on the Nov. 4 ballot, which would eliminate the state income tax.
-- Tuesday Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m. Finance Committee budget hearing to discuss the fiscal outlook for Fiscal 2010. 7 p.m., review of Nov. 12 special Town Meeting articles. Voters should receive a mailed copy of the pink Town Meeting warrant
booklet by the end of October.
-- Wednesday Oct. 15, 10:30 a.m-Noon, Large Hearing Room. Robert DeLeo, chairman of the Massachusetts House Ways & Means Committee, will meet with the public and local officials from Wayland, Sudbury and Lincoln to discuss the
national economic picture and the state's financial outlook.
State Rep. Tom Conroy, (D-Wayland) who represents the three towns, called DeLeo's appearance a good chance to talk about state aid to municipalities. The three receive a total of about $15 million from the state.
-- Wednesday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. Large Hearing Room -- Public forum by the Board of Assessors to explain how assessments are being established this year.
-- Tuesday Oct. 21, 7 p.m. Public forum by Wayland's ad hoc committee seeking economies in the next fiscal year budget. The committee, consisting of town officials and employees, says it would like to hear comments and ideas from the
