      Dear Wayland Voter,

Thank you for signing up for the Wayland Voters Network online
information service. We hope you will find it useful.

Be sure to cast your ballots today, March 2, in the Presidential
Primary and State Senate elections. To vote in both, you must cast
two separate ballots obtained at two different check-in areas at your
      polling place.

The annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 27. Many Town
Board positions will be open; the results of these elections will
      impact everyone in Wayland.

Anyone interested in running for a Town position should take out
nomination papers from the Town Clerk's office in the Town Building
immediately. Signed papers must be returned to the Town Clerk by
      March 9.

A complete list of open seats and those who've taken out papers to
date can be obtained from the Town Clerk. Following is a partial
list of the status of candidacies as of midday March 1.

Former Selectman Pat Abramson and attorney Michael Tichnor have taken
out papers for the open Selectman position, currently held by Mary

The only candidate for the open School Committee slot at the moment
      is incumbent Bob Gordon.

Three people have taken out papers for the one open Assessor
      position. They are incumbent Jeff Cohen, in office since 1995;
previous long-time assessor Jayson Brodie (who was defeated for
reelection last year by reformer Tom Maglione); and Susan Rufo, a
property manager with a background in real estate.

Three people have taken out papers for the 5-year Planning Board seat
being vacated by Gretchen Schuler. They are Joyce Lauer, Christopher
Seveney and Diana Warren. The Planning Board has two other seats in
the upcoming election for which the incumbents are running: a 5-year
Associates seat occupied by Anette Lewis, and a 2-year seat whose
      incumbent is Rebecca Regan.

The next edition of this newsletter will include an update of the
candidacies for the Town election. We will also begin to highlight
warrant articles that will be voted on at the upcoming Town Meeting,
      which starts on April 29.

We encourage all citizens to surf the Town of Wayland web site at:
