      State Sen. Katherine Clark of Melrose prevailed in Wayland Tuesday while handily winning the 5th Congressional District Democratic primary. 

      In a Wayland turnout of 15% of registered voters, Clark received 404 votes, well ahead of Karen Spilka (251), Carl Sciortino Jr., (209), Peter Koutoujian (195) and William Brownsberger (120).

      Businessman and lawyer Frank Addivinola Jr., who won the Republican primary, received 52 votes in Wayland, trailing Michael Stopa (63) and Tom Tierney (62). 

      The election to choose a successor to Ed Markey in the heavily Democratic district is scheduled for Dec. 10.
