      Dear Wayland Voter,

Police Chief Robert Irving issued the following statement this morning:

This morning at 800 A.M. the LEPC and town department heads met at the Emergency Operations Center to discuss plans to deal with the impending storm.

Town officials have been in contact with representatives from MEMA and NSTAR to coordinate storm related requests.

Schools are closed in Wayland today and evening meetings of town and school offices have been cancelled.

The Wayland Medical Reserve Corps and Citizen Emergency Response Teams are prepared to open Wayland's shelter at the Middle School if necessary.
Police, Fire and Public Safety Communications have added personnel to be better prepared to handle an increase in call volume.

At 10:35 A.M. a power outage affecting 780 residential and business customers in north Wayland was reported. The cause of the outage is not known and NSTAR has dispatched personnel to investigate.

The Wayland Public Safety Building is now operating on generator power.

Updates will be provided as this storm unfolds over the next 24-48 hours.

      Chief Irving
