      THURSDAY Aug. 30, 8 a.m., Planning Board. According to the posted agenda the Board will consider submitting two warrant articles for the Special Town meeting on Oct. 3: a zoning article on conservation cluster detached units and a housing trust fund. The deadline for submitting warrant articles to the selectmen's office is 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

      THURSDAY Aug. 30, 10 a.m., ribbon-cutting at the new High School.


      The Wayland Health Department will administer free flu vaccinations to residents 65 or older by appointment on Sept. 11, 13, 20 and 25. Call the Health Department at 508-358-3616 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to schedule an appointment. Vaccinations will be given in the large hearing room of the town building. You must bring medical insurance cards.


      Paul Grasso has resigned from the Finance Committee, effective Aug. 31. His letter of resignation gave no reason for leaving the Committee while one year into a second three-year term. The Board of Selectmen will advertise the vacancy and appoint a replacement to serve until the end of the term on June 30, 2014.

      The selectmen filled another vacancy on Aug. 20, appointing Carol Martin to the seat formerly held by Richard Stack.
