      LOKERVILLE GREEN CEREMONY POSTPONED

The ceremony scheduled for May 4 to dedicate the renovated Lokerville Green has been
postponed to May 18 because of rain.

The green at the intersection of East Plain Street and Commonwealth Road has been
added to the town atlas. Several town groups including Wayland Beautification
collaborated on the effort to recognize the historic importance of the area, first settled by
members of the Loker family in 1638. A member of the family served on the Board of
      Selectmen as recently as 1953.

      CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR WEBSITE COMMITTEE

April Town Meeting voters approved a temporary committee that will look for ways to
improve the town website. More applicants are being sought for the seven positions, four
of which will be appointed by town Moderator Peter Gossels and three by the Board of
      Selectmen.

The committee's mandate is wide-ranging. Officials say they hope for a diversity of
opinions and skills. It is anticipated that the committee will solicit residents' opinions,
study other towns' websites, hold public hearings and produce a report including
recommendations. Even if you're not interesting in serving, you might explore
www.wayland.ma.us and come up with suggestions of your own.

To apply for the committee, please contact Peter Gossels pgossels@... or the
selectmen through Town Administrator, Fred Turkington, fturkington@....
