Group Description

WAM-NY was created in 2005, and is the New York chapter of "Women Advancing Microfinance", founded in Washington, D.C. in 2003. The mission of WAM is to advance the microfinance industry by supporting women in the industry in their professional development, promoting leadership opportunities, and increasing visibility of their participation and talent while maintaining a work/life balance.

The WAM-NY list serv is limited to members of WAM-NY.

Eligibility for membership:
Membership in WAM-NY is primarily for
women with professional experience in
the microfinance industry. However, we
also welcome men and women who are micro-
finance supporters, young microfinance
professionals, and men and women new to
microfinance but with experience in a
related field.


WAM is founded on the values of:
