      8/11/01 Washougal Heritage Walk, WA
      Sanction No. NW01/080
      START/FINISH: Two Rivers Heritage Museum; 001 – 16th Street; Washougal,
      Washington.
      TIMES: Start any time between 8am and 1pm; Finish by 4pm
      DISTANCE and RATING: 10km (6.2 miles), Rated 2. Shorter distance is
      available
      TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Walk on sidewalks, road shoulders, and park paths to
      view historic sites from Washougal’s past. See many grave markers – one
      as old as 1874 – in the town cemetery, still in use today; the restored
      Coach House; and former sea captains’ homes built before the Columbia
      River dike – one of which is on the National Historic Register. Also
      walk through Hathaway Park above the Washougal River. OK for strollers.
      Wheelchairs may have difficulty on road shoulders, and some curbs not
      cut.
      HATPIN: A hatpin depicting the Two Rivers Heritage Museum logo (shown
      above) is $2.50. Proceeds will benefit the museum fund. "B" awards and
      hatpins will also be available.
      FEES: AVA Credit Only is $2. No refunds. Non-credit walkers are welcome
      to participate at no charge. All must register, carry, and return a
      start card.
      COMFORT: Water and restrooms at the start/finish and along the route.
      Pets are permitted but not in buildings. Owners are responsible for
      leash and clean-up laws.
      ELIGIBILITY: This event is sanctioned by the American Volkssport
      Association, part of the International Federation of Popular Sports
      (IVV), and counts toward the acquisition of IVV achievement awards.
      Everyone is welcome to participate. Children under 12 years of age must
      be accompanied by an adult.
      NEW WALKERS: This event is part of the AVA Achievement Awards Program.
      Participants can earn event and/or distance credits, then redeem
      completed books for a certificate, patch, and hatpin after certain
      milestones are achieved. Special New Walker Packets, including discount
      coupons at a bargain price, will be available at the registration table.
      DISCLAIMER: Although every effort will be made to make this a safe,
      enjoyable event, the sponsors are not liable for accidents, injuries,
      thefts and other material damages. By registering for this event, each
      participant agrees to accept the guidelines for Volkssport events
      published by the American Volkssport Association (AVA) and to observe
      the principles of good sportsmanship. This event will be held regardless
      of weather; adverse weather may increase the rating.
      DIRECTIONS: From I-5 (Exit #1A) or I-205 (Exit #27), take SR-14 East to
      Washougal. Just past Mile Post 16, turn left at traffic light onto 15th
      Street. Take first right on "A" Street, then right into Pendleton Woolen
      Mills parking lot. Two Rivers Heritage Museum is on the west side of the
      lot. Volkswalk signs will be posted.
      FESTIVAL: This walk is part of the museum’s annual Heritage Day. There
      will be an ice cream social, community information tables, craft booths
      and other family activities. Museum admission is free today. The
      Pendleton Factory Outlet store across the parking lot will also be open.

      TRAIL: (3) Walk on dirt trails and the asphalt Centennial Trail in
      Riverside Park with "gradual" hill climbs. Views of the Spokane River.
      Alternate trail available for strollers and wheelchairs.
      AWARD: The fifth in a series of eight awards with a Volkssporting into
      the Future theme for 2001, a pie wedge picture on its own that forms a
      total picture with all eight awards, is $4.00. NO REORDERS. Credit only
      is $2.00. Free walkers are welcome but must register, carry, and return
      a start card.
      HATPIN: "B" hatpins are $1.00.

      LOCATION: Pavilion at Port of Kalama Marine Park Kalama WA
      START TIME: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
      FINISH TIME: 10:00 pm
      DISTANCE: 11 km (6.8 miles) 5 km (3.1 miles)
      TRAIL: (2) Walk on paved paths, sidewalks, and road shoulders with many
      steps up to the bridge over the railroad tracks.
      Views of the Columbia River, four totem poles, a busy marina, and the
      quaint city of Kalama. Shorter route suitable for strollers and
      wheelchairs.
      AWARD: "B" awards are $3.00. Credit only is $2.00. Free walkers are
      welcome but must register, carry, and return a start card.
      HATPIN: Hatpins are $2.50.

      Montgomery Interpretive Center. I-5 Southbound: Exit #142A (SR18E) to
      Auburn Way/Enumclaw Exit. LEFT on Auburn Way S 14 miles through Enumclaw
      and LEFT on Roosevelt Ave E which becomes SR410. Continue as above.
