      2/7/2004 Upper Skagit Bald Eagle Festival Walk

      Distance and Trail Rating: 12km this year's walk is rated a 3+
      Start Point Address: Concrete High School entrance - look for banners
      Event Description: The walk follows a 12k course on sidewalks and
      country roads in and around historic Concrete. Multiple eagle sitings
      are common. Some sections of the route consist of narrow, unimproved
      trail across, up, and down hillsides and through the woods. The route is
      not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.

      From I-5, take Exit 232 (Cook Rd) and go east to light at State
      Rte 20 in Sedro-Woolley. Turn left onto S.R. 20 and proceed east approx
      25 miles to Concrete. At Volkssport sign turn right to go under Concrete
      High School to parking area.
      The 17th annual Upper Skagit Bald Eagle Festival is an
      opportunity to attend festival activities at Concrete High School and 12
      free public workshops. View the website at www.skagiteagle.org. Eagle
      watching areas are located at Rockport (milepost 98) and Marblemount
      (milepost 106) about 10 and 18 miles, respectively, beyond Concrete.

      Here's a sweetheart of an opportunity! This year the Capitol Volkssport
      Club is presenting the Healthy Heart Walk and Bike on Valentine's Day,
      Feb 14th, and Feb 15th. Hope to see you on the trail with your "main
      Start Location: Providence St. Peter Hospital Fitness Center, 113 Lilly
      Rd. NE, Olympia, WA
      Times on Feb 14 and 15: 8:00-1:00; finish by 4:00
      Distance: Walk 5 K (3.1 mi) or 10 K (6.2 mi) options; bike is 25 K
      (15.5 mi.)
      Trail Descriptions: The 5 K and 10 K walks (both rated 1+) go on
      sidewalks and trails on and near the hospital grounds. The 10 K walk
      overlaps the shorter walk and follows the paved rail bed of the Chehalis
      Western Trail. Both trails are suitable for strollers. The 25 K bike
      (rated 2) goes on paved city and rural road surfaces and along the
      Chehalis Western Trail.
      BONUS OPPORTUNITY: The Checkpoint at the South Bay Grocery Store is the
      start point for the Woodard Bay Year Rounds, so it's possible to
      complete another volksmarch and another bike YRE on the same day! Check
      it out.
      Misc. Info: Water and restrooms are available at the start and the
      checkpoint. Pets are welcome to participate, but may not enter the
      buildings. Owners are responsible for complying with leash and cleanup
      laws. Helmets are required for the bike riders.
      Driving Directions: I-5 Exit # 109 (Martin Way). Northbound
      LEFT/Southbound RIGHT on Martin Way. Continue on Martin Way to Lilly
      Rd. and turn RIGHT. Continue through stoplight (Ensign Rd.). Hospital
