      Don't miss this one. Summer walks on the C & O Canal are great. Lunch will
      be at a local Deli - Great - Outdoor tables.
      The Group will meet at the Old Parole Shopping Center(now a Green Grass
      Field). We will leave from the Rear of the Sun Trust Bank(Sailboat Bank) at
      8:00 AM. See you there,

      Distance and Trail Rating: 11-21KM 2

      Start Point Address: Each YRE has up to five possible start locations.
      Directions to each appropriate start point will be sent to each walker when
      they register. Registration is by mail or email only through the POC.

      Event Description: Trails are rated 1+ and are not suitable for
      wheelchairs. Strollers may have difficulty with stretches of rough or uneven
      surfaces. The trail is mostly natural surface which may be affected by the
      weather. The trail is entirely along the natural surface paths of the C&O
      Canal Towpath.

      Comments:
      11K Out and Back from Carderock to Great Falls features beautiful
      river vistas, 6 locks, the famous Great falls Tavern and a NPS visitor’s
      center. Segment 1, 17K, from Georgetown to Carderock features the Georgetown
      Visitor’s center, 14 locks, and an operational canal boat (in season).
      Segment 2, 19K, from Carderock to Seneca Aqueduct features Great Falls
      Tavern, 10 locks and Seneca Creek Aqueduct. Segment 3, 21K, from Seneca to
      Whites Ferry features the last active ferry on the Potomac and the Seneca
      Aqueduct. Segment 4, 14K, from Whites Ferry to Nolands Ferry features the
      spectacular seven arch, 560 foot Monocacy Aqueduct. All segments feature
      abundant wildlife and wonderful scenery.
