      Start Point Address: Starbucks Coffee Company, 301-320-9845. The Shops
      at Sumner Place, 4611 Sangamore Road. From Washington Beltway (495) take
      Exit 39, River Rd. (MD 190) towards Washington. Turn right on Goldsboro
      (MD 614). Turn left on Massachusetts Ave. (MD 396). Turn right on
      Sangamore Rd. at the firehouse. Continue past The Shops at Sumner Place
      (4701 Sangamore Rd.) to STOP sign in front of the National Geospatial
      and Intelligence Agency. Turn left for 1 block and then turn left again
      into The Shops at Sumner Place. Turn right at the first intersection by
      Dapper and Dannons and look for Starbucks in the middle of this row of
      shops.
      Event Description: Daily, 8 am-6 pm. Walk during daylight hours only.
      Walk starts along the Capitol Crescent Trail and goes to the Kenwood
      area of Bethesda. Here the Cherry Blossom Trees arch over the streets so
      that the walk goes through a tunnel of cherry blossoms. The walk is
      generally flat, but does have a couple of steep hills to go both up and
      down. Wheels should not have difficulty as the entire route is on paved
      surfaces. Pets are not allowed in the start point. Restrooms are
      available in the shopping center.

      Night Walks - Fairfax Station, VA
      April 11, May 9, June 13, and September 12, 2005
      Early Evening Walks on Second Mondays in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

      Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road (Rte 123), Fairfax Station, VA

      Start Times:
      Register and start walking between 4:30pm and 6pm. Finish by 8:30pm.
      (After 7:30, go inside the school cafeteria where your IVV book(s) will
      be stamped.)
      Distances/Trails:
      These evening walks will consist of 10KM trails with shorter 5KM options
      along residential sidewalks and park trails in Fairfax, Virginia. This
      is a new start point so trails will pass through new neighborhoods in
      the Fairfax Station and Burke areas of Fairfax County. Trails should be
      suitable for strollers, though wheelchairs may encounter some
      difficulty. Written instructions and maps will be provided for each
      walk; trails will not be marked.
      Award:
      These are credit-only events. No awards are available, though some B
      awards from previous NVV events may be available for an appropriate fee.
      Fees:
      There is no charge to participate in these events, though each
      participant must sign the liability waiver and carry a start card. The
      fee for IVV credit only is $3.
      Pre-registration:
      There is no pre-registration for these events.
      Stipulations: Pets must be under control at all times and must be
      picked up after. Pets are not allowed in the start point. Everyone is
      welcome. Participants may walk, jog, or run. An adult must accompany
      children under 12.

      Directions:
      From I495 via Braddock Road: From the Capital Beltway, take Exit 54A
      (Braddock Road West) towards Fairfax. Continue west on Braddock Road
      (VA-620) for about 6 miles. Soon after you pass entrances to George
      Mason University on your right and a shopping center on your left, turn
      left on Ox Road (VA-123) and head south for about 2.5 miles to Burke
      Centre Parkway. Turn left on Burke Centre Parkway to head east for one
      block. Turn right into the first drive on the right and turn right again
      to head into the parking lot on the north side of the school. The start
      point will be located beside a car in the upper lot to the right.
      From I-66: From I-66, take Exit 55 (Fairfax County Parkway/VA-7100)
      south towards Fairfax. Continue south on the Fairfax County Parkway for
      about 5.2 miles until you reach Burke Centre Parkway. Turn left on Burke
      Centre Parkway and drive east for about 7/10ths mile to Ox Road
      (VA-123). Continue straight across Ox Road and drive for another block.
      Turn right into the first drive on the right and turn right again to
      head into the parking lot on the north side of the school. The start
      point will be located beside a car in the upper lot to the right.

      Event Description: Trail is on hard surfaces; both cement and macadam
      walkways. Strollers ans wheelchairs should have minimal trouble on
      trails except some steps at the start. The route will take you through
      some of the wetland areas, as well as the neighborhoods, parks, and
      recreational facilities. It will also follow the Eastport Heritage trail
      in this maritime community, continue over Spa Creek to the Historic
      District, and go thorugh the revitalized ares od West Street.

      street. Take the circle past West street to a Right on Spa Road, take
      the first Left onto Greenfield St. Straight ahead to Maryland Hlaa. Park
      and proceed to Start table. From tht North: Take I-97 to its interchange
      with Md 50East to Exit 24 Rowe Boulevard. Then follow as above. From the
      West: Take MD Rt 50 East to Exit 24 Rowe Boulvard. Then follow as above.
      From the South: Take MD Rt 2 North to MD RT 50 East. Exit MD 50 at Exit
      24, Rowe Boulevard. Then follow as above.
      Comments:
      This Volkswalk route in Annapolis will feature the newest portion
      of Colonial Annapolis Matitime Heritage Trail, which is part od the
      Millennium Legacy National Trail System. The route will pass through
      wetland wilderness areas, parks, and more of the self-declared Maritime
      Republic than is usually included in Annapolis walks. Along the route,
      walkers will see GreensScape 2005 Volunteers working on projects to
      improve the parks ans paths of Annapolis. GreenScape is an annual event
      in Annapolis that brings together community volunteer organizations and
      the City to improve the parks and green spaces od the city.

      April 16-17, 2005 Bristow, VA (Braemar Community)
      Walk in a new area with this walk.
      Start Point: Caribou Coffee Store, 12713 Braemar Village Plaza,
      Bristow, VA 20136
      Start Times: Start between 8:00am and 2pm. Finish by 5pm.
      Distances/Trails:
      This event will feature the Braemar community's trails along part of
      Broad Run floodplain. Each spring the floodplain is resplendent with
      wildflowers, particularly the Virginia bluebell. The trail will follow
      part of the proposed Broad Run trail. Broad Run meanders through several
      counties of Virginia and is a tributary of the Potomac. At one time, at
      least seven mills operated beside Broad Run.
      The trail is 10KM in length and is rated 1+ with gentle hills on the
      sidewalks, asphalt paths, and natural surface paths. The trail is not
      suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. Because a portion of the trail is
      in the floodplain of Broad Run, it may be muddy and appropriate footwear
      is recommended, i.e., not your newest New Balances. An alternative route
      of approximately 5KM in length to those who prefer to walk a shorter route.
      Award: The award for this event will be a 4" patch depicting Chargin'
      Charlie enjoying the Virginia bluebells that are expected to be in bloom
      along the trail. Only 50 patches will be ordered and there will be no
      reorders.
      Fees: There is no charge to participate in these events.
      Pre-registration for the commemorative award and IVV credit is $6.
      Registration for the award and credit after April 9 is $7. The fee for
      IVV credit is $3.
      Pre-registration: Pre-registration ends April 9, 2005. Fees cannot be
      refunded for those who pre-register and do not participate.
      Stipulations: Pets must be under control at all times and must be
      picked up after. Pets are not allowed in buildings, including the start
      point and checkpoint. Restrooms and water will be available at and near
      the start point. Food can be purchased at nearby Safeway, Subway, and an
      Asian restaurant.

      From either East or West via I-395: From either direction on I-66 west
      of Manassas, take Exit 43A to follow US-29 South into Gainesville. At
      the end of the ramp, move to the left lanes. After crossing the railroad
      tracks, turn left at the next traffic signal to drive south on LInton
      HAll Road (Rt 619) for 3.9 miles to Sudley Manor Dr. Turn right on
      Sudley Manor and turn left at the next traffic signal into Braemar
      Village Plaza. Caribou Coffe is at the far left end of the center near
      Linton Hall Rd. Please do not park close to the stores, leaving those
      spaces for regular shoppers.

      SANCTIONED BY: The American Volkssport Association (AVA), a member of
      the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV), promoting leisure
      sports in the interest of family health, recreation, fun and companionship.
      DISTANCE: There will be two events.
      The walking event will have distance options of 5 km or 10 km. The trail
      rating for the 5-km walk is 2. The trail rating for the 10-km walk is 2.
      The bike event is being held in conjunction with the Columbia
      Association BikeAbout. The distance for the bike event is 25 km, and
      its trail rating is 2.
      TRAIL DESCRIPTION:
      The walk will be on Columbia Association asphalt paths and sidewalks.
      Both trails will go to Wilde Lake. The 10-km trail will continue to
      Centennial Lake.
      The bike event will go across Route 29 to the East side of Columbia.

      The Columbia Association BikeAbout is a self-paced ride of approximately
      15 miles on well-marked trails and streets in Columbia. It highlights
      historical, artistic, and environmental points of interest. Each year
      this event features a new route designed to acquaint riders with the
      extensive path system that is Columbia’s treasured resource.
      START TIMES:
      Walk: 8:00 a.m. to Noon. Must be finished by 3:00 p.m.
      Bike: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
      REGISTRATION and FEES: There is no pre-registration for this event. The
      participation fees are:
      · IVV Credit only: $3 (maximum $10 for families with minor
      children living together)
      · B Award (from previous event) and IVV Credit: $4
      · There is no fee to walk the trail without receiving the IVV
      credit.
      AWARD: There are no special awards for these walks. Some B Awards from
      previous events will be available for purchase.
      CONDITIONS: The event will be held during all reasonable weather
      conditions, including rain. Littering along the trails is prohibited.
      County laws require that all pets must be leashed.
      ELIGIBILITY: All are welcome to participate without charge, but must
      register at the start. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
      throughout the entire trail.
      PROCEDURE: Each participant will be issued a start card. It must be
      carried on the walk and presented for validation at each checkpoint.
      Only one start card will be validated per participant. Start cards must
      be turned in at the Finish Table after completing the event. Only those
      participants with a properly validated start card will be eligible for
      the Event Award and/or IVV Credit. The trail may be walked two times per
      start card on the same day at no additional cost.
      WATER and REFRESHMENTS: Water and rest rooms will be available at the
      start and finish point.
