Parking: Look for parking spaces in legal spots along the streets,
especially to the north and west of the S/F Point. Obey all parking signs,
and provide proper payment for meters on Saturday. Do NOT park in private
lots unless you have paid the proper fee and/or had explicit permission to
      park from the lot owner.

Keep track of how many blocks you walk from your car to the Start/Finish
Point. We will give extra IVV distance credit for those who must walk more
      than 5 blocks.

METRORAIL ACCESS: Take either Blue or Yellow lines south into Alexandria to
the King St. station. Exit the station and walk away from the tracks toward

      Awards & Fees:

      A Award

      Comments:

AWARD: The award for this event is a colorful patch featuring Santa lounging
in a tropical locale. Why this patch design? Last year's award featured a
snowman, and the day was snowy and cold. So wanting to encourage the weather
gods to treat walkers more kindly this year, the tropic theme has been
adopted. (Those receiving an award will also receive IVV credit after they
complete the walk and return their start card.) Pre-registration will
guarantee that you receive an award. Late registrants may receive awards
while supplies last. No additional awards will be ordered. Awards from past
events will be available for purchase at reduced rates.

FEES: Each participant must carry a start card. There is no charge to
participate in this event. Registration for the award and credit is $6.00.
The fee for IVV credit only is $3.00.

PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-registration ends November 30. Fees will not be
refunded for those who do not participate.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Because of the large number and inconsistent operation of
special programs offered by the AVA and various clubs, this walk's
organizers cannot be sure for which programs this walk might qualify. We
suspect it qualifies for the following programs: Cemetery Stroll; Historic
Churches; and Riverwalk America. Because the satisfaction of walkers is our
foremost desire, we will stamp any special program book that a walker feels
is appropriate for this event. We urge special program organizers to also
place the highest-possible value on the satisfaction of walkers involved in
      their programs.
