      Description: Union Artillery Walk – In past years we have generally
      focused on the Infantry units that fought at Gettysburg. This walk will
      feature the Union Artillery units on Cemetery Ridge, the National
      Cemetery, East Cemetery Hill, etc. This walk will visit the National
      Cemetery and the Visitors Center. After registering at the Days Inn, you
      will drive about four miles to the parking lot for the National Cemetery
      to start the walk. ***** Some of the trail at the East Cemetery Hill is
      on grass which is why the 2B rating. A detour will be provided for
      wheelchairs and strollers.

      Description: Lincoln Highway Walk In honor of the 100th Anniversary of
      the Lincoln Highway, this walk features places in Gettysburg for
      travelers on the Lincoln Way that date from 65 to 100 years ago. The
      walk starts from the Days Inn. The route will also pass the Seminary
      Ridge Museum, which opened on July 1, 2013, and use a 1 mile path on the
      campus of the Lutheran Seminary. The walk passes a monument to the 26th
      Pennsylvania Emergency Militia who skirmished with Confederates on June
      26, 1863, on their way to York, in the "First Battle of Gettysburg".

      Description: This walk has a 5K loop in the fruit orchards and vineyards
      above the winery and a 6K loop on country roads. Both loops must be done

      will make from here. Proceed towards Cashtown for one mile. After one
      mile, the road dead-ends. Turn left. In 100 yards, turn right, following
      the sign to Orrtanna. In about one mile, you will come to another
      dead-end and stop sign. Turn right. At the fork in the road, keep to the
      left. In less than a mile, at the bottom of the hill, turn right on
      Peach Tree Road. In 1/3 mile, turn left onto the dirt road and proceed
      mile to the Winery.

      Description: Bill Larson Memorial Event: Bill Larson was a beloved,
      longtime Sugarloafer member. For many years this was Bill’s Moonlight
      walk; he worked hard to make it happen. He also was one of the first to
      serve as a volunteer ranger at Seneca Creek State Park. And in 1999 Bill
      organized a Friends Group for Seneca to generate funds through
      memberships, donations & grants to support this park. His diligent work
      did much to guarantee continued quality programs and maintenance for
      Seneca Creek State Park. Unexpectedly Bill died in July, 2008, and we
      surely do miss him. Theme: A chance to experience our beautiful state
      park in the moonlight for a different view of the world around us. This
      is a once-a-year opportunity. Many thanks for the park manager's
      cooperation in allowing us to have this special walk.

      Description: All are welcome to participate, but must register at the
      start, carry a start card on the walk and turn it in upon completing the
      walk. An adult must accompany children under 12 during the entire walk.
      All Volkssport participants must sign a disclaimer. A parent or guardian
      must sign a special athletic waiver for children 17 years old and under
      before they may participate in a Volkssport event. Children under 12
      always walk free at Baltimore Walking Club events. The event will be
      held in all reasonable weather conditions. If in doubt, contact the
      person(s) listed on the other side. Pets are welcome, but not in the
      start point. Pets must be leashed during the entire walk and cleaned up
      after according to regulation. Restrooms are available at the
      start/finish. The walk is on a limestone trail, which may pose some
      difficulty for wheelchairs due to curbs. Part of the trail is new.

      Start Point / Driving Directions: Darlington, MD 21034 Take Exit 77B
      from I-95 and follow MD 24 north. It transitions into US 1 about 7 miles
      from I-95. At just over 21 miles from I-95, turn right off US 1 onto
      Shuresville Road. After mile, turn left onto Shures Landing. Follow this
      road to its end and park at the north end of the parking lot (about 1
      mile). The start/finish is in the fishing pavilion at the dam.
      Awards & Fees: IVV Credit Only
      Comments: Conowingo Dam was built back in 1926 1928, about 4 miles
      upstream from Chesapeake Bay. The dam is 4648 feet long and 105 feet
      high. Its probably the highest structure in Harford County. The walk is
      along the old Philadelphia Electric Rail Trail along the Susquehanna
      River. This railroad operated in the 1920s from Havre de Grace to the
      Conowingo Dam site. The walk is out and back.

      Description: The Candylane Trail consists mostly of sidewalks and paved

      the fee to enter Candylane, the trail will not take you inside the park.

      Description: START TIME: Register and start walking between 8:00 AM and
      1:00 PM. Finish by 4:00 PM. DISTANCES/TRAILS: This event celebrates the
      holiday season as well as the annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade and
      other festivities in the city of Alexandria. One IVV event stamp is
      offered. The Alexandria holiday trail (available for two distances) will
      explore historic neighborhoods and commercial districts of Old Town as
      well as sites along the Potomac waterfront. The trail will take you near
      the Scottish Christmas parade route. The 10-KM (6.2-mile) trail will
      focus slightly more on the southern end of Old Town, while the 5-KM
      (3.1-mile) trail will explore more of northern Old Town. Both trails are
      rated 1A because they are generally flat with very limited hills. Both
      are generally suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and disability
      scooters. Both trails offer restrooms, water, food, and shopping. (The
      suitability of the trails for wheeled vehicles or even for walking may
      be inhibited if weather conditions become adverse.)

      From the East or West via I 95/I 495 (Capital Beltway): Take Exit 177B
      (US-1 North/Alexandria). Continue north on US-1 for about 10 blocks (0.8
      miles) to Queen St. (2 blocks past King St.). Turn RIGHT on Queen St.
      for 2 1/2 blocks. The library will be on your left.
      From the North via the George Washington Memorial Parkway: Take the GW
      Parkway into Old Town Alexandria. Continue on what now is called
      Washington St. for about 8 blocks from the first traffic signal at
      Slater's Lane to Princess St. Turn RIGHT on Princess St. You will be one
      block north of the library, which is on the far side of a large parking
      lot to your left.
      Parking: Look for parking spaces in legal spots along the streets,
      especially to the north and west of the S/F Point. Obey all parking
      signs, and provide proper payment for meters on Saturday. Do NOT park in
      private lots unless you have paid the proper fee and/or had explicit
      permission to park from the lot owner.
      Metrorail Access: Take either Blue or Yellow lines south into Alexandria
      to the King St. station. Exit the station and walk away from the tracks
      toward Old Town Alexandria. Walk east on King St. for about 12 blocks to
      Columbus St., which is two blocks past Patrick St. and one block before
      Washington St. Turn LEFT to walk two blocks to Queen St. The library is
      on the far right corner.
      You may also ride the free King Street trolley, which operates seven
      days a week from 11:30 AM to 10:15 PM between the King St. Metro station
      and the riverfront. Buses operate on roughly 15-minute intervals and
      stop only at designated stops.
      Awards & Fees: IVV Credit Only
      Comments: AWARD: The award for this event is a colorful patch featuring
      three elves preparing for the holiday season. Those receiving an award
      will also receive IVV credit after they complete the walk and return
      their start card. Pre-registration will guarantee that you receive an
      award. Late registrants may receive awards while supplies last. Only 50
      awards will be ordered. No additional awards will be ordered. Awards
      from past events will be available at reduced rates.
      FEES: Each participant must carry a start card. There is no charge to

      START AND FINISH TIMES:
      Day walk starts between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Finish by 4:00 pm. Night
      walk starts between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Finish by 9:00 pm.
      Swim starts between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and
      between 10:00am and 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday Swim must be finished
      by 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and by 4:00 pm on Sunday.
      FEES: Preregistration is $18.50 for the day event award and IVV credit;
      $9.00 for the night event award and IVV credit. Registration, mailed
      after Nov 30, 2013, and at the event, is $19.00 for the day event and
      $9.00 for the night event. The credit only fee for the walks and swim is
      $3.00. There is no fee just to walk the trail. Sign up for theswim will
      be at the event; there will be no pre-registration for the swim.
      EVENT AWARDS: The day event award is a wooden block cutout of the
      Raleigh Tavern at Colonial Williamsburg (see drawing on front cover).
      The night award is a 4 x 4-inch patch (see drawing on next page). Each
      participant paying an appropriate fee will receive an award and/or IVV
      credit in exchangefor a completed start card. Only 50 day awards will be
      ordered. Only 35 night awards will be ordered. There will not be a
      reorder of either award. Most awards go during the pre-registration period.
      COURSE DESCRIPTION:
      The day (10 km) walk trail, rated as 1A, will be through Colonial
      Williamsburg and primarily along city streets. The night (10 km) and
      both 5 km trails are rated as 1A and are primarily in Colonial
      Williamsburg. All trails are suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and
      handicapped. Colonial Williamsburg is decorated for Christmas so walkers
      can enjoy both the decorations on the doors during the day and the
      lights and carolers at night.
      SWIM: The swim is 300-meters and will take place in the hotel swimming
      pool. There is no pre-registration for the swim.
      SPECIAL HOTEL RATES: The Clarion is offering special room rates: $69.00
      per night for a single/double/triple/quad room, including breakfast.
      When making a reservation at the reduced rate (by Nov. 13, 2013), call
      757-229-4100 and tell them you are part of the Peninsula Pathfinders'
      group. After that date, there is no guarantee that you will be able to
      get the special rate. It will depend on the level of occupancy of the
      hotel. There is a full service restaurant at the hotel, which serves
      breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      From Richmond and Points North, take I-64 East to Exit 238, “Camp
      Perry, Colonial Williamsburg”, VA Route 143. At the top of the ramp,
      turn right onto VA Route 143 East. At the junction with Route 5,
      continue straight on Route 5.
      Approximately 2.1 miles, turn left on US Route 60 East (York Street).
      The Clarion is on your left approximately 0.1 mile after your turn
      From Hampton and Norfolk, take I-64 to Exit 242A, Williamsburg, VA Rt
      199 West (Humelsine Parkway). Drive about 1.1 miles to the Exit for US
      60. Turn right onto the exit. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto
      US 60 West. The Clarion is on your right approximately 1.9 miles.
