      Km trail winds through the Rosslyn neighborhood and passes the Iwo Jima

      Description: Saturday event: Choose from the following distances: 6, 14,
      24, or 44 Km. Each start with an invigorating hike up the wooded Glover
      Archbold Trail in Georgetown. The 6 Km trail winds through Georgetown
      before returning over the Key Bridge to the Finish, but does not visit
      the Host Embassy (Denmark.) The 14 Km trail visits the Host Embassy and
      passes the following landmarks: The Washington National Cathedral, The
      National Observatory (Home of the US Vice President), Embassy Row, The
      Kennedy Center, and Theodore Roosevelt Island before returning to the
      Finish. The 24 Km trail visits the Host Embassy and passes the following
      landmarks: The Washington National Cathedral, The National Observatory,

      20, 33, or 37 Km. The 6 Km trail crosses the Key Bridge and follows the
      C&O Canal through Georgetown and passes The Kennedy Center and Theodore
      Roosevelt Bridge before returning to the Finish. The 11 Km trail follows
      the C&O Canal natural path before diverting into the Glover Archbold
      trail for a nice, long walk in the woods before winding through

      City (Exit 43B). At end of Route 100, take Route 29 North toward

      From Route 29, Follow Route 29 to the Route 40 East, Ellicott City
      exit. Exit Route 29 and follow Route 40 East to the traffic signal at

      Description: The 10 km trail has both paved and natural surface
      sections. The natural surface section starts at the nature center Trail
      Head and follows the nature trails along an abandoned section of Avery
      Road, into the forest and along the Croydon Creek. There are some short
      steep climbs along the creek. The walk then continues to the Glenwood
      Mansion grounds. The 7 km trail bypasses the natural surface section and
      continues directly to the Glenwood Mansion grounds. The mansion grounds
      include several short sets of steps in the garden. The 5 km trail
      bypasses both the nature center and Glenwood Mansion. All trails return
      through the Twinbrook neighborhood and finish along the Rock Creek Park
      trail before returning to Caribou Coffee. All trails start and finish
      with a short set of steps with poles that narrow the passageway. The
      passageway is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers unless they are
      lifted over the poles and down the steps. Restrooms are available at the
      Start Point and at Croydon Creek Nature Center. Pets are allowed, but
      must be leashed at all times during the walk. This walk will be held
      regardless of the weather, unless conditions cause the sponsors to close
      the trails for safety reasons. Water and candy will be available at the
      Start Point.

      Bauer Dr. Turn into Rock Creek Village Center. Caribou Coffee is in the

      FROM I-270 Going South: Exit 6, (Rt 28) East, Rockville Town Center, W
      Montgomery Ave. Turn Left at light and follow Rt 28 for 4 miles as above.
      FROM Beltway 495: Exit 31, Georgia Ave (Rt 97) North Toward Wheaton.
      Drive approx 7 miles to Norbeck Rd (Rt 28 West). Turn Left on Norbeck Rd
      and continue 2 miles to Left turn at Bauer Dr. Turn into Rock Creek
      Village Center. Caribou Coffee is in the back right corner next to CVS.
      Additional Parking: There is additional parking available behind the
      Caribou Coffee. To access this parking bypass the first entrances to
      Rock Creek Village Center and turn in at the rear of the Safeway. Follow
      the driveway pass the back of the Safeway and then to the right. Caribou
      Coffee is at the next corner.

      Description: Bill Larson Memorial Event: Bill Larson was a beloved,
      longtime Sugarloafer member. For many years this was Bill’s Moonlight
      walk; he worked hard to make it happen. He also was one of the first to
      serve as a volunteer ranger at Seneca Creek State Park. And in 1999 Bill
      organized a Friends Group for Seneca to generate funds through
      memberships, donations & grants to support this park. His diligent work
      did much to guarantee continued quality programs and maintenance for
      Seneca Creek State Park. Unexpectedly Bill died in July, 2008, and we
      surely do miss him. Theme: A chance to experience our beautiful state
      park in the moonlight for a different view of the world around us. This
      is a once-a-year opportunity. Many thanks for the park manager's
      cooperation in allowing us to have this special walk.

      Quince Orchard Rd. to Rt. 117, Clopper Rd. WEST. Turn right on Clopper
      Rd. and proceed to Seneca Creek State Park entrance on LEFT. Enter park
      and turn RIGHT to Park Offices, our start point.
