Group Description

"von Nida" is how it is currently presented in Germany The following names seem to have one common grandfather in the 1600's,as you will see.
We are mostly from 3 brothers that came here in the 1700's, from SW Germany. (Baden Wurtemberg) School was not compulsory in the US until about 1840 so the spellings were phonetic. The missing link I found for many was Fonada, or Foneda, in the 1790 Lancaster, Pa. census. It occurred to me it might be pronounced with a German accent to the 1790 census taker, hence I was able to link Nida's to all the other names.

Read how Baron von Nida got his title from the King for raising an army.

Communication center. We are all cousins. Niday, Nida, Vonada, Vanada, Vonneida, Vonnieda and other "misspellings" We will give you links back over 750 years. Pictures, chat, files, archives This is a chance to see how our family thinks. Read about THE family book, by Jack Nida, that has thousands of names and data. Published in 2005 with 1652 pages, takes us back to 1250 AD. The book weighs 8 pounds and on a coffee table will anchor the table if you get a big wind. Set it front comver down or the gold leaf coat of arms will fade in the sun.

The lower "lion/horse" looking part of the coat of arms seems to be have
been copied from the state of Wurtemburg (or Baden?) The two states of
Baden and Wurtemburg combined. If I get around to it, will put here the year it happened.

This communication center presented by Neal Vonada,of Seattle It is free. nealvon@comcast.net

UPDATE: In 2006,Jack Nida's group joined ours and Jack helps in mgmt.
he is the most accurate and complete historian in our family

You may note several "commonalities" in our life choices. It is not meant to represent final conclusions unless it is later put in the family trees, Nida, and Vonada and others. My personal web site is http://www.grandpatime.itgo.com and has lots of ideas for genealogy and some entertainment as well. Neal Vonada, Seattle
