Group Description

On the morning of August 21, 2002 in the Mantua section of Phila. PA., 17 yr old Russell Watson, beat a one year old Pit Bull named Rahkim, with a baseball bat, for no other reason than Rahkim was in the wrong place, at the wrong time! Part of the beating was caught on a security camera, in a coin operated laundry. The graphic tape shows the pit bull, already battered/bloodied, limping into the laundry, and trying to hide behind a row of washing machines. A man follows, dangling the bat from one hand. Moments later he can be seen carefully lining up with the bat, and bringing several crushing blows down on the dog. He then drags the bloodied dog outside, by his tail, and out of camera view. Rahkim was found a block away, suffering from severe injuries, including a broken foot, broken jaw and ribs. Investigators estimated Rahkim had been struck at least 15 times. Rahkim had escaped from a yard at a neighborhood home, and witnesses said he was walking down the street, when he was attacked by Russell Watson! People who know Watson said, "later that day, he was laughing and joking about the attack, saying he "Took care of that 'bleeping' dog."" One year old Rahkim, was put to sleep the next day, at the request of the owner.

"Voices for Rahkim" is a tribute, to the memory of this poor little boy, who suffered and died, because he was defensless against his attacker!

We are dedicated to the protection, and welfare of animals everywhere!

In Memory of Rahkim, we fight the injustices perpetrated on the innocent, defenseless animals.

If Rahkims story touched your heart as it did ours, please join us in our fight to help the animals. Help us keep Rahkim's memory alive, so that animals everywhere might be spared the suffering that Rahkim endured!
