Group Description

The focus of this group is the theory of videoblogging, particularly, though not exclusively, in its relation to practice.

While other discussion groups tend to deal solely with the practical side of videoblogging, and as such provide a valuable resource, Vlog Theory hopes to provide a place for people to discuss a wide variety of theoretical topics effecting the medium, including, but by no means limited to, form, theories of authorship, high theory, historical and cultural contexts and their effect on development, and so on.

We are a group for people who believe that videoblogging is worth theorising and that that theory is relevant, necessary and important for the continued development of videoblogging practice. Academic credentials are certainly not a prerequisite for membership and anyone is more than welcome to join. However, if you think that theory is a waste of time, please save us all the trouble and don't bother.

Needless to say, while disagreements in opinion are inevitable (and potentially valuable insofar as they can help to generate new knowledge), personal insults against anyone, members of our group or otherwise, will not be tolerated. Moderators reserve the right to judge a post in violation of good decorum, and to warn the member to that effect, with an explanation.
