Group Description

Webcam connections are by no means a replacement for living under the same roof, but new technologies now make it possible to maintain close relationships despite divorce, distance, military assignments, or longterm travel.

In this periodic e-mail newsletter -- consisting mainly of brief summaries and hyperlinks to articles, blog posts or video clips at www.internetvisitation.org and www.virtualfamiliesandfriends.com -- we'll point to creative tips and news you can use, as well as cover the movement to create "virtual visiting" rights in every state.

We'll link to reports on the experiences of families, for better and for worse, where you can interact with them.

We'll show you how to more creatively use e-mail, the web, live chat, photos, online slide shows, audio and video, Internet phones, cell phones, games, and online teaching tools with your loved ones. We'll report on the latest research on how the Internet and other new technologies are changing our families and close relationships.

Our work has been covered in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Associated Press, US News and World Report, BBC radio, Newspro.net (syndicated news for 30 TV stations in U.S.), many local stations and newspapers.

The web portal for our work is www.internetvisitation.org. The blog site is www.virtualfamiliesandfriends.com

A web forum is available at www.internetvisitation.org/forum
