      the hg version still produced the error just now.
      i uncommented the VALGRIND definition in src/tesdir/Makefile
      and uncommented the LEAK_CFLAGS = -DEXITFREE line in src/Makefile
      and recompiled vim and reran the tests and test96 passed this time.
