      Hi,

Has anyone thought of generalizing the underlying mechanisms for
communication used by NetBeans to a generic asynchronous communication
      API over sockets?

That way, we wouldn't have to have discussions about adding shell
support to Vim, as anyone could add these types of features through
plugins. Same goes for IDE integration.

Right now, you have to write a proxy daemon translating your
application's native communication protocol to NetBeans. Sub-optimal.

      Thoughts, comments?
