      Could this not be handled with a vim option (:set eightbit) to convert
      the known eight-bit codes into the equivalent 2-byte sequence before
      attempting to parse it? Perhaps only done if the eight-bit code fails
      to match any termcap/terminfo entries. Then existing terminfos and
      builtins would work for either normal or eight-bit xterms/vtX00s.
      Are there any other terminal types that have eight-bit alternate codes?
