      Looks good.

      XIM: try (insert mode) typing '40' [keypad keys to test; the normal
      number keys should work too] with <Ctrl+Shift> held down. Letting go
      of the modifiers should turn the '40' into '@' (hex Unicode entry). Try
      a really obscure Unicode no. for good measure :)

      You should also find that the standard compose sequences work (if you
      have a Multi_Key X binding - usually <Shift-AltGr>) - e.g.,
      <Multi_Key>e' or <Multi_Key>12
