      is attached below), running the suggested test in :help perldo
      (eg, :perl $a=1) results in the error message:

      E370: Could not load library perl56.dll
      Sorry, this command is disabled: the Perl library could not be loaded.

      How can this be fixed?

        This is perl, v5.8.0 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
        (with 1 registered patch, see perl -V for more detail)

            As an aside if you are compiling VIM yourself, you can use the PERL_VER variable to specify the perl version support needed. -Manu
