        Try these settings:

        % ./configure --enable-multibyte --enable-fontset
        --enable-xim --with-x
        % make

        ~/.gvimrc
        set guifontset=8x16,hanzigb16st
        set fileencoding=prc

        ~/.Xdefaults
        Vim.font: 8x16,hanzigb16st
        Vim.fontSet: 8x16,hanzigb16st
        Vim.fontList: hanzigb16st

        then
        % export LANG=zh_CN.EUC
        % gvim
