Re: FW: Gui vim on Mac OSX doesn't follow .gvimrc or .vimrc's settings....
- Apparently this message didn't go to the vim-mac list, where it belongs.
I'll send it there.

Ok, now I get it. I myself in fact ran into the same problem recently, quite
by accident. The version of Vim that you can download from http://macvim.org
contains "gvimrc" and "vimrc" files inside the application (the path would
be Vim.app/gvimrc and Vim.app/vimrc) that are actually read _instead of_
your ~/.gvimrc and ~/.vimrc.
Solution: delete the Vim.app/gvimrc and Vim.app/vimrc files. Vim will now
revert to reading ~/.gvimrc and ~/.vimrc.
These hidden gvimrc and vimrc files are a real gotcha, and either should
never have been hidden inside the Vim.app, or Vim really should recognize
$HOME/.gvimrc and $HOME/.vimrc. I think the latter case is correct (so
defaults settings are provided, but the user can override them), and will
contact Bram (the Vim maintainer) about correcting this behavior on the Mac.
I was not seeing this behavior before because I compile and run my own Vim,
and these hidden gvimrc and vimrc files are not included with the standard
Drink wet cement and get really stoned.
