Good. The auto-completion may be because you have 'compatible' set
(the default). Vim will automatically set 'nocompatible' if it finds a
personal vimrc file, but you only mention a gvimrc file. Try
and, if that is the problem, make yourself a vimrc file ($HOME/.vimrc).
