In a few days I will spam a great number of people with the news on the
release of my book Black Tattoo Art: Modern Expressions of the Tribal.
Sounds fancy, don't it?
But I'm writing especially to my J2000 friends to ask that you save the date
for the release party next Thursday, September 10, from 7-11PM at Tattoo
Culture in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
There will be food, drink, music -- a regular Greek bacchanal -- but with a
monster 530-page, six-pound hardcover on black ink tattoos as the center
piece. The book is the first in English on this particular style of fine art
tattooing with over 500 photos from artists around the world. Because of its
massive size, it also doubles as a free weight or device for home invasion
defense. I'm trying to find alternate marketing strategies here as the
publisher has set the price at $159 US. Perhaps, I'll just sell it as a
coffee table rather than coffee table book. But then Ikea would undercut me.
I will be selling my own author copies at a discount rate of $120, but
really, I don't want my friends to feel any obligation about purchasing the
book. Your mandate is simply to have a great time at my party next Thursday.
