      World Water Day Dinner at El Toro


      To celebrate World Water Day this year (which falls on 22 Mar), Veggie Thursday (VT) has organised a special dinner event at El Toro restaurant. Incorporating elements of water footprint awareness, the event promises to be a Feast of Latin Cuisine. At only $30 a person, the price covers dinner prepared by the restaurant, dessert by Brownice and gifts such as a 1KG bag of brown rice from Sukha House and the popular VT Frisbee.

      Little Green Cafe Joins The Fold


      Shalu Asnani who conducts vegetarian cooking classes recently started an online hub to serve as a platform for anyone wishing to subscribe to a healthier lifestyle and to get inspiration by attending her cooking classes. Called Little Green Cafe, it is the latest fledgling business to take up a corporate membership with the VSS.
       
      Shalu, who is a former lawyer and a self-confessed foodie, began her foray into the world of professional cooking 4 years ago after relocating to Beijing . Her niche is healthy vegetarian food ranging from Indian to Vietnamese to Contemporary cuisine and her goal is to disprove the myth that vegetarian food is boring.

      Celebrate Earth Day at Jurong Point With Us


      The Jurong Point management and the VSS are collaborating to conduct a vegetarian food fair at Jurong Point on 21 & 22 Apr in honour of Earth Day 2012. The shopping centre has lined up a host of activities and events in relation to environmentalism for the month of April and one of the key events will be the vegetarian fair.
       
      There will be food demos and an awareness booth at the event, supported by a few stalls set up by Delcie's, Brownice, Fave and Zen Xin. Mark the event on your calendars so that you can drop by and say hi to us!

      Help, I can't find food at UE Square !
       
      One VSS member who works at UE Square wrote in to us to ask for help and we managed to solve the problem within minutes because someone had shared a similar experience on the VSS Forum. We thus encourage everyone to share their experiences and contribute their expertise on the forum

      "I have recently moved to work at UE SQUARE , 83 Clemenceau Ave. It has been almost 2 weeks. I don't seem to be able to find any vegetarian food (without garlic n onion) nearby. The only one that I know of is Real Food at Central. But that is not an option for me as I need to order 2 main meals to be satisfied. If VSS knows any vegetarian eating place near UE SQUARE or Shell House, could you please share this info?"
