      At recent VSS events, such as the just concluded two-week exhibition at Jurong West Community Library and this week's exhibition at RJC, hundreds more people have signed up for the free VSS e-newsletter that you are reading now. As a result, we are approaching 4000 subscribers.

      Bridging Hearts – Harmony in Nature: Carnival in Pasir Ris – Sat, 19 July

      VSS will have a booth at the Interpretive Centre at Pasir Ris Park on Sat, 19 July, 1pm-9pm. The event is called Bridging Hearts – Harmony in Nature. It will be a carnival to celebrate racial harmony and to encourage harmony with nature:

      Rock Party for the Environment near Dhoby Ghaut – Sat, 19 Jul

      The Environmental Challenge Organisation ( Singapore ), also known as ECO Singapore, together with a few other young environmental enthusiasts from Halide Pictures and Rockstar Collective, is organising a free local talent filled rock concert to raise awareness on how to live a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Along with the concert, a flea market will see various NGOs, such as VSS, ACRES and SPCA set up booths to educate the public on green and animal welfare issues.

      Courage Despite Cancer – Sat, 26 July

      Meat-eating is linked to several types of cancers, and plant foods are linked to cancer-preventing nutrients. Shan You Counselling Centre is sponsoring a seminar on cancer, featuring a medical practitioner, a psychologist and a dietician. We understand that the dietician, the only one of the three who will be speaking about food, advocates eating more fruit and veg and less saturated fat. She is not pro-veg or anti-veg.
