Would this be the Burmilana No. 12 by Madeira? It's a wool and acrylic 50/50 thread for machine embroidery.

Wonder if the wool in the thread is treated to be non-moth/insect resistant? (I know the crickets in our country love to eat wool.)
And yes, I understand about the Aus. and UK being willing to "step out of the box." I was fascinated by the "Great Barrier Reef" exhibit that started in Aus. Then found on-line pictures from London and Chicago in January .... and was shocked to walk around the corner of the library in AZ and find it on exhibit in July! The willingness to think in all directions .... including crocheting in metal wire and hundreds of beads was incredible!
