During the summer I like to make iced coffee. This year I stared experimenting with Cold Extraction coffee. I purchased some kenya AA (my favorite bean), some chicory and made a batch in my french press.
Results were not great.
On the off chance that it might work, I got my Cory DI Gasketless pot, with the glass cory rod and for this test I used grocery store canned coffee. I put a pound in the top mixed in three large tablespoons of chicory; and filled the upper part of the vac pot with water to almost the top. I gave it a good stir and let it sit for about 15 hours.
The cory glass filter worked perfectly at allowing the coffee to drain to the bottom of the pot drop by drop. It produced a cold brew that was dark deep and rich. Really fantastic, particularly so given the cheap coffee I used.
Have any of you folks used this method before? Please let me know what your results have been.
