Re: [ustav] Choir Cues: 29 Pentecost 18/31 December 2006 - Sunday Before Nativity
- Four remarks:
1. Shouldn't the kontakion at both the 3rd and
the 6th hour be of the Holy Fathers, this being a
2. In the sixth troparion of the resurrection at the Beatitudes,
> 6. O ye faithful, let us entreat Him whoin Thy kingdom!
>hath risen from the dead, hath made
> captive the dominion of hades, and wast
>seen by the myrrh-bearing women and
> said to them: Rejoice!, that He deliver
>from corruption the souls of us
> who ever cry out to Him with the voice of
>the noble thief: Remember us also
the clause "...that He deliver..." is so far
removed from the "let us entreat" that it
encumbers the meaning, especially when the
sentence is read aloud. A somewhat less disparate
syntax may be clearer:
> 6. Him Who hath risen from the dead, hathand wast seen by the myrrh-bearing women
>made captive the dominion of hades,
and said to them: Rejoice!" -- let us
entreat, O ye faithful, that He deliver from
> the souls of us who ever cry out to Himin Thy kingdom!
>with the voice of the noble thief: Remember us
3. At the Entrance: Troparia of the Resurrection
and the Holy Fathers, then Glory-Both Now, then
the kontakion of the Holy Fathers.
4. The Epistle
>Instead of: "Brethren: By faith he sojourned inRd Gennady
>the land of promise..." - "Brethren: By faith
>Abraham sojourned in the land of promise..."
