the BJC. For those of you who have the DVD with the faulty sound, this

I assume my DVD is the same, I haven't found time to watch it all yet.
You'd think they'd have checked the content before burning them!

Well, it is only the sound on a couple of minutes of one act, and
they've made the whole act available online for anyone to download.
It's unfortunate that there was a problem with the master DVD, but as
soon as they were made aware of it they apologised and provided this

Yep, and that's the exact reason that customer relations are important.
If it were www.dvdmegabucksb*st*rds.com then they could afford to annoy
a small number of customers and not care. As a small company in a very
specialised market, juggling.tv need to make sure their customers know
that they're every bit as lovely as a company as they are as Howie and
some mates. "[H]e said all copies are like that and there is nothing he
can do and he wouldn't send me a replacement"* isn't exactly the way to
                        go about that.

                        > Who are no doubt
                        > doing their best.

Here's a couple of fundamentally flawed aspects of the "solution"
                        1) Not everyone reads rec.juggling.
Yea, shocking but true. There are at least three people involved in
this thread who don't for starters (it was LP jumping in and pointing
it out that was the first mention of that, so those of us posting
previous hadn't seen the r.j post..)). (I am more generally mystified
by the assumption that every juggler does read rec.juggling, this is
just the latest example of "oh, it was on rec.juggling" that I've
seen.. ). A big flashing, noise making "We're really really sorry that
you might've got a f***ed bjc dvd, click here for how to sort it out"
on the front page of their website would've been one better approach (I
have a dodgy item. Do I go to a related internet forum to see if
there's a message there, or do I contact the manufacturer/retailer?
                        Bear. Defecation. Woods.)
                        2) Not everyone has broadband (or a broadband connection that they can
use for personal downloads)(and of those people who do have broadband,
                        most have download limits).
Yes, making that segment available as a free download was a nice
gesture, but to my mind it's hardly a solution. (And there's not (at
least last time I looked) even a small, non-flashing and noise-making
link to it on their front page..)

                        * I appreciate that all I know of this comes from Rachael's post and
that "he said all copies are like that and there is nothing he can do
and he wouldn't send me a replacement" is a paraphrasing, so there are
certain assumptions being made on my part..
