      Dear ujeni folks,

Thought you might appreciate the message Josh and his wife broadcast to their list of friends.

I think the swearing-in was delayed a week by Ramadan activities, but it should all be official by mid-week.

      Be well,

      Vyrle

      Hello everyone.

After 9 weeks of training in Senegal Cory and I are ready to be sworn in as Peace Corps Volunteers on Wednesday.  Training has been very long, and a struggle sometimes, but overall a good experience.  After 24 hours of language class each week we both managed to achieve the intermediate low language level in Pular so now we are deemed competent enough to go live in a Pular village.  I am sure that we will be ok, but it does seem like a daunting task.  We have been assigned to a village 50 km SE of Tambacounda on the Tambacounda-Kedegou Road .  There have been volunteers before us so at least some of our awkward behavior will be predicated.  We head out for there on Thursday, the day after swearing in, and then everything will change.  From what Ive heard adjusting from the US to the Thies Training center is a lot easier than adjusting from the training center to the village.  We are both very excited to get to our village and see what we can do.  I hear internet access in Tambacounda is slow and expensive so emails my be infrequent.  We will let you know our postal address as soon as we know it.  Thanks for all of your support so far.

I hope that this email finds everyone in good health

      cheers,

      Josh
