      Position Title: Regional Director, Southern Africa

      Location: Lilongwe, Malawi

      Job Summary: Under the supervision of the CNFA Deputy
      Director for Africa in Washington, DC, provide
      programmatic leadership and management oversight to CNFA
      programs throughout southern Africa. In particular, lead
      development of new projects in Mozambique.

      Principal Responsibilities:

      CNFA programs in southern Africa are developing new,
      commercially sustainable techniques for strengthening
      smallholder farmers? access to input and output markets.
      The Southern Africa Regional Director will be responsible
      for leading these efforts, and thus carry responsibility
      both for strategic program design and for management of
      existing programs:

      1) Oversee and ensure successful implementation of CNFA
      projects in southern Africa (currently Malawi, Zimbabwe
      and Mozambique).

      2) Travel and network with private and public sector
      stakeholders throughout southern Africa with a view to
      developing and obtaining funding for new projects.

      3) Organize and coordinate completion of an assessment of
      private sector agricultural input supply in Mozambique.

      Ideal Candidate:

      Has academic training in both agriculture and business
      management and ten years? experience working on rural
      private enterprise development in different countries of
      southern Africa including Mozambique. Has excellent
      program management, writing, networking and financial
      management skills, a history of success in securing
      funding for projects from aid donors, excellent
      conceptual, oral and written communication, team building,
      and people skills, and fluency in Portuguese. Experience
      actually working in private company(ies) and/or organizing
      business management training programs will also be highly
      valued.
