Subject: NCID is Announcing PHA Position in Kenya IEIP
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is asking for your assistance in helping us identify candidates for a key public health management position in the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) Kenya International Emerging Infections Program (IEIP). The position may be filled as a GS-685 Public Health Analyst or Public Health Advisor at the grade 14 equivalent. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Kenya IEIP is responsible for complex public health and research activities related to the epidemiology, surveillance, laboratory diagnosis and training, and response to outbreaks involving emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in Kenya. The Public Health Advisor or Public Health Analyst of the IEIP will serve as the principal management and administrative person for the IEIP activities, with responsibilities for public health administration and management, program planning and evaluation, formulation and implementation of policy and programs, management of resources, property, contracts, memorandums of agreement, and procurement activities. The Kenya IEIP operates in conjunction with the Kenya Ministry of Health and the Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP) being conducted jointly by CDC's Epidemiology Program Office and NCID. The Kenya IEIP will work collaboratively with other CDC/Kenya programs operating in Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya.
In addition to this position, the Kenya IEIP will be staffed with a Senior Medical Officer/Epidemiologist, a staff Medical Officer/Epidemiologist, and a Microbiologist.
Suitable candidates include public health advisors and public health analysts with:
A. Knowledge of public health program development and implementation methods, principles, processes, and techniques;
B. Ability to conduct reviews of public health related programs, policies, and/or problems; and
C. Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Salary is dependent on experience. For the GS-14 position, the base salary range is from $72,381-$94,098, with relevant overseas allowances.
