This position is a CDC\ATSDR Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program target occupation.
Serves as technical officer in the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), Global Program for Vaccines (GPV), World Health Organization (WHO) with an overseas duty location. Assists WHO and country Ministry of Health officials to plan, implement, and evaluate activities for EPI disease surveillance and disease control initiatives, with an emphasis on polio elimination, measles mortality reduction, and the control of other vaccine preventable diseases. Serves as an advisor on polio/measles elimination, participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of polio/measles elimination activities. Participates in a variety of immunization activities such as micro-planning, advocacy, and budgeting of polio/measles elimination activities. Assists the program management team in evaluating the effectiveness of immunization services provided in the project area in relation to the achievement of international goals and objectives. Provides advice and support to the program management team regarding morbidity analysis and surveillance activities.
Applicants must meet the basic qualification requirements outlined in OPM Qualification Standards Handbook. In addition, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is that which is directly related to the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, such as assisting WHO and country Ministry of Health Officials to plan, implement, and evaluate activities for EPI disease surveillance and disease control and eradication initiatives.
