      Ok the real pass rate!

Lu' called Maneb (Malawi National Examination Board) and only the director
can give out the figures which you are seeking.  Sorry we don't have a lot
of time to follow up on this, so this info will have to do which Lu' found
      in the paper:

Results Disaster!  Only 18 percent pass wtih 3,850 pupils disqualiied..
MSCE, 61,856 candidates, 50,713 failed = 18.01 percent pass rate
JCE, 82,530  candidates,  47,218 passed = 57.21 percent pass rate

That's all the info there is.

Hope it helps a bit -
      Stacia

Girls 90% pass, Boys 85% - hee hee, just a joke!

Lughano, the program assistant at PC will know faster than anyone.  Dora,
the APCD for education is currently in Lesotho facilitating a PACA
workshop.  I've copied this to work to follow up.

      Cheers, Stacia

        Hello!
Hope you are happy and healthy and enjoying Spring (whatever that may
be for you wherever you are...). I was wondering if anyone out there
might be able to assist me. I am looking for some statistics on recent
pass rates of secondary school students in Malawi (girls and boys), as
well as numbers of boys and girls enrolled. Malawi's official web site
doesn't seem to include these tidbits. Stacia, do you think you might be
able to direct me to someone who might help? Thank you so much!! If all
else fails, I can pay the $3 per minute and try to get in touch with the
Ministry of Education (it's expensive, though, because the operators are
        all so friendly)...
Take care and keep the news and stories coming. It's fun to hear what's
up with all of you all around the globe.
        Leah :)
