        The Director of Program will oversee staff based in Pakistan and those
        managing Central Asia programs from Pakistan. The Director of Program is a
        senior leadership role, and is responsible for representing Mercy Corps to
        donors and coordinating with local authorities and organizations.

        This position requires a MA/S or equivalent in Social Science or relevant
        field and a minimum of five years multi-sector field management experience
        including emergency relief, health, engineering, agriculture and/or
        infrastructure repair projects. Two years successful experience with grant
        management and budget oversight skills and personnel development and
        management. Demonstrated understanding and experience with NGO security
        management issues, protocols and associated systems/apparatus as well as the
        principles of participatory, community-oriented development and familiarity
        with responding/working within emergency situations is necessary. Excellent
        negotiation, representation, implementation experience and skills and the
        ability to work comfortably in the religious and political climate of
        Pakistan are vital. Effective verbal and written communication,
        multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization and computer skills are
        necessary. Ability to work effectively in a sometimes difficult security and
        cultural environment is required. Demonstrated attention to detail, ability
        to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and
        cooperatively with team members is required. Sectoral experience in water
        management, animal health and/or cash-for-work projects. Fluency in Pasthu
        and Urdu is highly desirable. Working knowledge of remote location
        communication
        systems (HF and VHF radio, satellite telephone/e-mail) systems installation,
        operation and
        basic maintenance is preferred.
